In an upcoming article dedicated to the most imposing Atlantis Lab speakers, we powered the AT31s with the superb all-French Neoson Genèse tube integrated amplifier. With the Evolution, Neoson has clearly chosen to prioritize clarity and musicality over the extra power and warmth generated by Class A operation. When paired with a high-efficiency speaker like the Atlantis Lab AT-23 Pro, the result is a warm and rich sound with excellent presence across the entire frequency range. The bass isn't compromised, and the treble isn't harsh: the sound remains consistent throughout the spectrum, with remarkable midrange clarity.
The bass performance is excellent for a model using speakers of this size, while the mid-bass is well-controlled, offering good depth and precision. Unless you're using this setup as part of a home theater system, adding a subwoofer seems unnecessary.
The midrange is the heart of any audio system, and this is where the Neoson and Atlantis Lab collaboration excels. The tonal quality of the piano and strings is comparable to that of much more expensive systems I've heard over the years. Regardless of the richness of the piece or the complexity of the passage, I never perceived any distortion or thickening of the sound.
